Scholarship Opportunity for New England Section!
The Connecticut Chapter of the Ninety-Nines offers two scholarships of $2,000, one of which is in memory of Evelyn Kropp. Applicants will be considered for both scholarships. If you’re a member of the Katahdin Wings, Northern New England or Connecticut chapters, you may be eligible! The deadline is April 15, 2026.
Evelyn Kropp of Norwich, Connecticut was a CT Chapter and Life Member of the 99s. She learned to fly in 1967. She went on to obtain her IFR in 1968, commercial and multi in 1969, then CFI and CFII. Evelyn owned a Piper Arrow for 54 years (nicknamed “Romeo”). Additionally, she was an avid air racer since 1976. She was very active in the New England Section 99s as well as her Chapter. She served as governor, along with many chapter officer positions. She never missed a section meeting and participated in the annual international conferences as well. Evelyn truly believed in the 99s mission and backed it with an inspirational level of commitment and dedication.
Evelyn served as an FAA Accident Prevention Counselor for over 30 years. The Wright Brothers Master Pilots Award was presented to Evelyn in 2017 for 50 years of flying.
Evelyn brought all of this experience and knowledge to her fellow 99s, whom she truly enjoyed encouraging and mentoring. Her legacy continues in all of the fellow aviators she influenced over the years.
The CT Chapter of the 99s sincerely thanks the Kropp family for their continued support to make a flight training scholarship possible in memory of Evelyn. Evelyn has been featured on the Ninety-Nine’s Oral History Series. We hope you enjoy this video as she shares her aviation stories with the 99s.
