Chapter Scholarships

The Katahdin Wings offer a fully-funded seaplane rating scholarship opportunity for its members. The Alice Love Forbes Seaplane Scholarship, established with Alice’s husband Jim, honors Alice’s passion for aviation by covering up to five full scholarships per year for aspiring seaplane pilots. The application window is yearly around February, but is sent to all section members when it becomes available.

Section Scholarships

The New England Section of the Ninety-Nines has annual scholarships for all section members. These can cover either initial ratings or advanced training. 

Ninety-Nines Scholarships

Each year, Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarships are usually awarded to qualified members for five scholarship types, including two specialized scholarships: an Emergency Maneuver Training Scholarship and an International Scholarship for pilots in developing countries. These scholarships can cover up to full ratings, or full initial training, and are available to all Ninety-Nines.

New in 2025: The Collegiate Women’s Achievement Award recognizes an outstanding Ninety-Nine demonstrating academic excellence, professionalism, leadership, & volunteerism. You must have been a Ninety-Nine for at least three months and of sophomore or higher class rank, enrolled at a United States accredited college or university and actively pursuing a degree in the aviation field. You must also be working toward a private pilot certificate or higher and have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Additional application requirements are listed on the award application. One award of $3,500 is planned for the annual award. Funds will be paid directly to the college/university or flight school affiliated with the winner’s college/university. All applications must be received by October 1. Each application must have two recommendations received by October 20.
